As of April 1, 2026, 16 journalists and media workers have been killed while performing their professional duties in Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, according to Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
However, the total number of media workers killed (including those who died while in the armed forces, due to shelling, or torture) is significantly higher:
- Total Media Workers Killed (since Feb 2022): The Institute of Mass Information (IMI) and Ukrainian authorities reported that over 116 Ukrainian and foreign media workers have been killed by Russian aggression as of November 2025.
